Contemporary Dutch landscapes. Oil sketches done on numerous
trips through France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain and Ecuador.
As a landscapist I try to combine the qualities of the Dutch tradition of
painting with modern elements like an abstracting composition, a lively brush
stroke, a bright and colourful palette and of course all the contemporary
elements one finds in landscapes nowadays.
From time to time I need to escape the turmoil of the city and put up my easel
on the banks of a river, at sea on the beach, in a polder or in a forest.
My favourite subjects are the Dutch polder landscape, Dutch skies with their
characteristic cloud formations, riverscapes, dunes and beaches.
