I consider myself a figurative painter. That does not mean I paint figures like triangles, circles and squares. It also does not mean I paint human bodies. It means that I am not interested in abstraction as an art form in itself. I consider abstract art as a historical misunderstanding of what it is all about in the visual arts. Abstraction is not an invention of the twentieth century, it has been always there. From the prehistoric cave paintings until the present time. Creating a two-dimensional image of reality is an abstraction in itself.
